Vas Happenin' In Algebra 2!

In the eighth grade, I was a step ahead of other eighth graders. What I mean is, I took Algebra I in eighth grade, Geometry in ninth grade, and now I am taking what is considered to be a junior class, Algebra II.

This week in Algebra, we have learned how to solve special case problems, compound inequalities, and absolute value inequalities. Some of it is related to Algebra I. Going by at least three to four steps, you have to make sure that you are working the problem right and substitute the number you've gotten for your variable.

Mrs.Waldrop, the teacher, has only five sophomores in her third period Algebra II class. Making it very easy for us to learn or get one on one time if we need it. If you don't get the problem or you are struggling to grasp something, then Mrs.Waldrop will gladly help you with whatever the problem may be.

Honestly, I wish she could have been my Geometry teacher as well. Mrs.Waldrop is the nicest math teacher I have ever met and she is really caring and really cool! Every day I look forward to hearing her southern belle accent and she makes me really excited about the lesson for that day.

I Wanna Be A Billionaire So Freakin' Bad

We read an article entitled Of Brainiacs and Billionaires. While reading the article, there were words that kind of made your brain "hiccup" if you didn't know what they meant.

After reading through the first two or three sentences, I got a little lost. The author was using big words that I didn't understand. Slowly but surely, I started to use context clues and understand it more. Words like "cognitive" threw me off in the beginning. Using context clue after context clue, I pieced together the clues to kind of make a definition for the word so I could understand it more.

Why do they use such ginormous words? They use those words to test your knowledge of how to use context clues. Throughout the passage, you find words like "cognitive." By using your clues you can try to verify what the words actually mean.

For me, this article was to complicated and advanced for my brain to process. Even though I've tried using big words, I've never seen big words like those of usage in this passage. Good for some, not good for others. Don't get me wrong, I'm always looking for new ways to expand my vocabulary.

Finding new ways to expand your vocabulary is kind of like giving your brain a work out.  Sometimes, after a long day at school, my brain is tired and doesn't really like to think. Other days, I'm just thinking about anything and everything.

Next time you are reading a paper or article and you come across a word you don't understand, use this little thing called context clues.

The Demon of Screamin': Steven Tyler

Steven Tyler, the demon of screamin'. I am absolutely in love with Aerosmith, and of course Steven Tyler. He is my rock 'n' roll icon. The book tells about events in his life that lead to the 1970 forming of iconic band, Aerosmith.

Steven Victor Tallerico, was born in Bronx, NY on March 24, 1968. When he was old enough to travel, his parents headed straight to the town of Sunapee, New Hampshire. Growing up he was around music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. His dad was in a band that did more of the ballroom music to entertain hotel guests.

Steven Tyler was a self-proclaimed mama's boy. Discovering drugs at the age of ten, he would try his hardest to find it and smoke them with his friends. Mama Tallerico wasn't very happy. Hiding stashes of drugs and other illegal things, his mom would raid his drawers and he would try to pry his mother away from the drawer. Steven would be grounded for weeks to months at a time.

Eleven days before his nineteenth birthday, Steven Tallerico was arrested for smoking pot. After all those years, the law had finally caught up to him. Susan, his mom, was not very pleased with Steven at the time. I mean, I would be too if that was my child. All in all, he always got his fair share of being cussed out and being beaten with a wooden spoon.

Sleep was always the first thing on Steven's mind. Having an apple tree in their back yard, Steven's dad would pick them and throw them at Steven to wake them up in the morning. After waking up, it was straight to the hotel they were playing at that night. You've got to start somewhere though right?

I Have The One Direction Infection(;

One Direction went from five ordinary boys on the stairs, to the most popular teen boyband in the world. They inspire every day and have a loyal fan base of Directioners.

In the beginning, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson were just five boys auditioning seperatley. On the UK version of The X Factor, the boys didn't know each other. After the grueling audition process, they found out they had made it throught to the judges houses.

When the tough part came, Niall, Zayn, Louis, Liam, and Harry, were cut from the competition. But a judges sudden "aha" moment happens, One Direction will be formed. Nicole Scherzinger, from the forever popular Pussycat Dolls, decided that the five boys had too much talent to put to waste. She suggested to Simon Cowell that they call back the five and put them in a band.

Callback time! Approaching the stage with each other, hand in hand, they were nervous as to what they needed. Simon Cowell proceeded to say, "We've decided to make you guys into a group." Harry and the other four hit the floor after hearing this.

Week after week, the boys were put through to the next round. Until, it was the week before the final, One Direction and two other talented people were brought forward. Waiting to hear the results was agonizing pain. When the results came out, One Direction was not going to be in the final.

Devastated, the boys were interviewed about what they were going to do after X Factor. Zayn Malik said "Well, we're going to stay together and make records."
Indeed they did make records and built up an approximate 28.7 million Directioners worldwide. As soon as their debut album Up All Night hit stores, it sold over 100,000 copies the first week! Making them bigger than Justin Bieber! "What Makes You Beautiful", the band's debut single, was top of the charts for eight weeks ina row.

One Direction has set to release their new single, "Live While We're Young", in the US on October 1, 2012. The new album is set to release in the US on November 13, 2012.

One more thing, I am a very proud Directioner and I am not afraid to say it!

What We've Read In Class

Today in class we read an article entitled, Planet Earth Doesn't Know How To Make It Any Clearer It Wants Everyone To Leave. The article was completely satirical and was about Earth talking giving us "hints" as to why it wants us to leave.

In my own personal opinion, we abuse the Earth way to much. We live on Earth and care way less than we honestly should. Living on Earth should not be something that we put to waste, we have recycling bins for a reason people!

If I were to ask people if they recycle, I would be willing to bet that at least 99% would say "no." And you wonder why we can't have nice things everywhere. Before you try to trash Earth, think. My family always says "Think before you act, not act before you think." Truthful words of the wise. Everyone that lives on Earth should at least take one or two extra steps to make sure that Earth is cleaner and healthier.

Recycling, one of the many ways that we can help conserve our planet. Products that are made out of foam, plastic, or cardboard can be put into a bin or trashcan to be disposed of properly. recycling bins are put in shopping malls, grocery stores, convenience stores, and amusement parks, like Carowinds, to make sure that you can dispose of your waste properly.

So the next time you decide to use something made of plastic or foam, make sure you dispose of that item properly. Remember, "Think before you act, not act before you think."

From Carowinds to Football Games:)

Summer break this year was quite interesting. During the break, I went to the beach, Carowinds, and a football game. My summer vacation was action packed and full of redneck moments and family time.

One of my favorite places to go during summer vacation is Carowinds. Carowinds is the thrill capital of the southeast. Every year, I go to Carowinds to ride the rollercoasters and goof off with my family. The Intimidator is my favorite ride over there and I ride it at least five times before ever leaving the park. Other rides that I enjoy screaming my heart out on are the Carolina Cobra, the Nighthawke, and the Afterburn. Going to Carwinds is a ritual for me. This year was the best by far. When I went with my aunt Shannon, we walked by the water park and my sister sees a water tank and hollers out, "I think they are heating up the water!" Dying of laughter, Megan was embarrassed.

Sand, sun, and fun. I'm talking about Wilmington, NC. Every year my parents take us to the beach. Getting down there is the longest drive ever. Arriving at the beach, we go straight for the boardwalk to go shopping. Usually we get a shirt and a shark tooth necklace. This year was simply the best. Robert Downey Jr, my absolute favorite actor from movies like Tropic Thunder and Iron Man, was at the beach filming for a movie, Safehaven. When the movie hits theaters, I will be going to see it.

Screaming fans, popcorn, peanuts, cotton candy. Thats a sure fire sign that football is starting back. My dad and I try to go to a football game every so often. He is a huge Carolina Panther fan. I, however, am a New England Patriots fan. My dad got tickets to the Miami at Carolina game last weekend. He called three people before asking me if I wanted to go. I accepted and went, hoping that Miami would annilate the Panthers, due to the fact that I cannot stand Cam Newton. We went and had our usual daddy/daughter time.

So this is what my summer vacation looks like. Enjoy it!
